Aria glanced at Anna. And if I’m not mistaken, the recipient of that affection is oblivious.

Aria waited until they were in the car to test the waters. “So, how did you meet Joe?”

Anna pulled out onto the road. “There had been a few attacks reported in the area, and he offered one free self-defense class to show women how they could protect themselves. There were probably about ten of us who took it, but I was the only one who chose to come back. I really liked it. It made me feel…I don’t know…empowered, to learn the moves and be able to use them, so I stuck with it.”

“He’s kind of handsome.”

“Yeah, I guess so,” Anna agreed, distracted. “I never really noticed.”

“You never noticed,” Aria muttered with a shake of her head.

Anna glanced at her and then back at the road. “What?”

“Anna.” Aria turned in her seat to face her sister. “That man would love nothing better than to be your knight in shining armor. Not to mention, kissing all those bruises you’re so proud of.”

“What? No way.” Anna sent her a surprised look. “Really?”

Aria nodded and grinned.

Anna seemed to be thinking it through when she suddenly burst out, “Great! Now it’s going to be all awkward the next time I go in there. Do you know how often we’re body to body when he’s showing me something? Oh, God,” she moaned. “That move today. His face was buried in my chest. You just couldn’t have kept that to yourself, could you?”

“Hey,” Aria laughed, “it’s not my fault you’re deaf and blind to hot guys drooling all over you. Ease up on those shields. Live a little.”

“Just great,” Anna repeated and drove on towards home. Aria laughed, enjoying how flustered her sister had become.
